CITIZEN launches retro bullhead chronograph ‘Challenge Timer’ in Europe
CITIZEN has relaunched a real classic from the 1970s – the Hollywood-proven ‘Challenge Timer’ chronograph. Until now, the retro watch was only available in Japan – now it is also available in Europe. The new model not only features the characteristic bullhead arrangement of pushers and crown, but also the original diameter of 38 millimetres.
The design is close to the original and should delight anyone who finds vintage models and today's collector's items unaffordable since their appearance in a Hollywood blockbuster.
This Challenge Timer AN3660-73X with a green and luminescent dial is available worldwide in a limited edition of 4,000 pieces.
The comeback of the ‘Tsuno’ – affordably priced and with a quartz movement for young watch fans
Tsuno means horn in Japanese and refers to the two pushers at the 11 and 1 o'clock positions. The origin of this arrangement dates back to hand-held stopwatches.
Bullhead chronographs have traditionally been used for timekeeping, for example in motor racing. To do this, you took the watch off your wrist, kept it in your hand and used it like a normal stopwatch. Different from the original from 1973, CITIZEN has decided to use its own quartz calibre (Cal. 0510) in the new Challenge Timer instead of a mechanical movement.
