CITIZEN PROMASTER Blue Ocean – featuring an aquatic dial and Eco-Drive
For 50 years, CITIZEN has used light as one of the cleanest forms of energy – in the form of solar-powered Eco-Drive movements manufactured in-house. Often combined with complex and translucent dials.
This is also the case with the latest ISO-compliant diving watch from the PROMASTER Marine range, limited to 8,700 pieces worldwide. With its shiny aquatic dial, which is pigment-free and made from recycled plastic, it's a special highlight. Not just in terms of design, but also when it comes to sustainability. Another eco-friendly feature: the Blue Ocean’s strap is made from BENEBiOL™ – a biomass-based plastic.
Pigment-free ink, Eco-Drive and bio-based strap material
One of the Blue Ocean’s BN0167-09W standout features is, of course, its shiny, water-inspired dial. It is printed with a special pigment-free ink from Fujifilm (Structural Colour Inkjet Technology). The bright colours and lively effect are created by the reflection of light off the surface of countless microstructures within the ink layer.
Inside, it is powered by the brand’s own light-powered Eco-Drive E168 movement, which has a power reserve of 180 days. It can operate without a power supply for that time. The robust 44 mm case, featuring a unidirectional rotating bezel, is water-resistant up to 20 bar and meets the ISO 6425 standard for diving watches.
The Blue Ocean strap is made from BENEBiOL. This is a bio-based raw material for polyurethane (polycarbonate diol) developed by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation. This material is primarily used here to ensure greater durability and environmental sustainability.
