Citizen Eco-Drive watch with orange strap and nautical elements.

Keeping a close eye on the tides and the race: With the new PROMASTER Wave Tracker combination watch, CITIZEN is adding to its range of professional water sports watches. For over 40 years, CITIZEN’s PROMASTER models have been helping athletes and outdoor fans around the world with a wide range of useful features.

Other features of the new PROMASTER Wave Tracker are a countdown timer for regattas, a display showing the tides (high/low), the moon phase, and sunrise and sunset times for 203 destinations worldwide. All this is made possible by a new in-house movement (calibre U812) and a high-resolution display (MIP). The light-powered sailing watch is available with black or blue dials and in a total of four versions: Two models with stainless steel straps, one with a bio-based plastic strap (BENEBiOL™) and a gold-coloured version.

Regatta watches: It all began in 1985 – with the CITIZEN ‘Wind Jack’

The history of CITIZEN regatta watches began in 1985 with the launch of the ‘Wind Jack’. The designer, a sailor himself, used his experience from international regattas to help create this first yachting and sailing watch.

Over the past 40 years, CITIZEN has constantly improved these timepieces. With the new PROMASTER Wave Tracker, the Japanese company is keeping this tradition alive in the form of a combination watch featuring an analogue-digital display. This includes, between other things, a modern, high-resolution MIP (Memory in Pixel) display.

Race Mode, Tides, slide rule bezel and more

The new Wave Tracker from the PROMASTER Marine range features a number of practical functions, which are important for regatta racing. Thanks to the new U812 calibre, the watch features both a Race Mode and a Tide Graph, opening up new possibilities for regatta racing and maritime use.

The race mode and tide display help the skipper with timekeeping and the most important tasks on board. Race Mode features a regatta timer that counts down to the start and automatically switches to timing mode once the starting signal has been given. The watch therefore provides all the key information at every stage of the race – from the strategically important pre-start phase right through to the finish line.

The rotating bezel operates as a slide rule for determining angles and bearings. It can also be used to determine the optimal course (points of sail) based on the wind direction.

In Tide Graph mode, the watch calculates the water level for a selected location and displays the hourly forecasts in a graph. In addition to high and low tide times, changes in the direction of the tide can also be displayed. In addition, the watch provides real-time information on the moon phase and sunrise/sunset times for 203 locations worldwide. This makes it the ideal partner for maritime sports and outdoor activities.
